Charleston mosquito season runs from March to October, and in a wet year it starts earlier and ends later. Most of the mosquitoes biting you in the yard were born within a few hundred feet of it.
Why 21 days
A barrier treatment on the undersides of leaves keeps working for about three weeks in summer heat. Visit less often and there are gaps; visit more often and you pay for product that is still working. Heavy rain right after a visit is the exception, and then we come back free.
Where they breed
Clogged gutters, plant saucers, tarps, toys left in the yard and the corrugated drain pipe at the end of a downspout. A bottle cap of water is enough for a batch of eggs. We check all five on every visit and treat what cannot be emptied.
What it cannot do
No treatment keeps out mosquitoes flying in from the marsh next door for long. On marsh lots we say so at the first visit, and suggest the plan only if it will make a difference you can feel.
Seeing something like this? A technician answers, Mon-Sat 8 to 5.
