A raccoon family under the porch
Johns Island, 1998 farmhouse, wraparound porch, 2 weeks, $640

BEFORE

AFTER
THE PROBLEM
A mother raccoon and four young had moved in under the wraparound porch through a broken lattice panel. The dog found them first.
WHAT WE DID
We waited until the young were old enough to move, set a one-way door on the opening and two live traps, checked them every morning and released the family under SCDNR rules. Then we closed the porch skirting with galvanized hardware cloth.
RESULT
All five out in eleven days and the skirting closed on day twelve. $375 for the removal and $265 for the hardware cloth, $640 in total, as quoted.
